EXCLUSIVE - IRVINE SCHOOLS SAVED

IN an astonishing meeting on Tuesday all of the Irvine schools threatened with closure were saved.
Tense parents arrived at Cunninghame House to await the verdict of the future of Towerlands and John Galt Primary Schools, with Springside all but secured.
Many had believed that John Galt would be the one school of the three to be doomed to closure.
However, in an neck-and-neck vote the Vineburgh school was saved after Provost Bobby Rae made his casting vote count.

NAC deny Equal Pay delay tactics

COUNCIL bosses have denied that they have been sticking their heads in the sand over equal pay.
Equal Pay campaigner Mark Irvine claims that North Ayrshire Council have been using delay tactics in order to stall the process.
On his website he said that NAC have been given one last chance to provide information to an employment tribunal after failing to meet previous orders to hand over details which would back up their defence.

Laptops Rot As Wardens Chopped

CASH strapped council bosses have been slammed by a local politician after admitting to spending over £100,000 on hi-tech computers which have been left in a warehouse untouched for over a year.
North Ayrshire Council bought 50 Toughbook laptops - designed to operate in harsh conditions - for workers employed out in the field.
However, since they were purchased towards the end on 2006 they have sat in a warehouse in Stevenston, with only a few set to be used in the coming weeks.
